A small site for a small family

Microblogging is a thing.

Yes, you do. You do know what microblogging is - it is short bits of text thrown into the ether of the internet. Tweets.

Well, there are other versions of this, and the W3C have even created a standard protocol for exchanging these 'status updates'.

Mastodon is one method of using ActivityPub, that protocol for exchanging updates, both to post and to read these short messages. And, yes, we are hosting our own instance.

By the way, within the Mastodon community a single post is called a 'toot' which is played for all the bad puns and humor it can be. Our domain, []( "our instance"), is actually a pun in French with some, er, mildly crude references to things which make noise when squeezed. Like clown noses.
