Plymouth Cranbrook Belvedere, 1951-1953

A classic, the Plymouth Cranbrook Belvedere, before the 1954 restyle. Copyright © Maynard and Betty Ranum

The gentleman posing against the car is almost certainly Maynard Ranum, almost certain… but not quite. The bright light has him squinting into the sun and I cannot say with certainty it is he, or his step-brother Lloyd.

The car, however, I can pin to within three model years – a Plymouth Cranbrook Belvedere from 1951-1953. In Maynard’s favourite colour, a creamy yellow. He owned at least two cars, probably three, and a pickup in this colour. Note the bug screen in front of the grill.

    1. True. But Lori thinks this may be uncle Lloyd. I honestly cannot say for sure one way or the other.
